I just wanted to take the time to thank Rob and John for all they have done for me. When I moved into Discovery house my life was a complete mess and through the guidelines and structure of Discovery house I was able to turn my life around for the better. Discovery house played a huge roll in my sobriety. I had to put the hard work in myself but the house taught me how to live as a productive member of society again and it was a comfortable, safe, and clean house where I learned to live life again. Rob and John both care about every man that lives in their houses and will do anything they can to help you succeed. I am blessed to consider them friends today and will remain forever grateful.

I lived at Discovery House for 3 years. What you put in is what you get out. I had gone to live at a halfway house because of severe depression and my family didn't want me living alone and I had several years of recovery from alcohol and drugs at that time.. John and Rob always went out of their way to bend over backwards to me. They try to help everyone that wants help regardless of ethnicity or sexual affiliation. I discovered that people that wanted to recover did. Those that were just in it for the appearance fell apart quickly. If you were HONEST and SINCERE about recovery then Discovery House is a wonderful place. If you wanted to drink or use drugs it wasn't tolerated. Lying is part of addiction. People suffering from addiction would swear their brown hair was blonde and believed it. If you approached Rob and John and asked for their help they were there for you.

I don’t ever write reviews but reading some of the reviews for Discovery House really made me angry. The people writing negative reviews were asked to leave for drugging, drinking and having unauthorized visitors. They broke every house rule and they made our lives miserable (those of us actually trying to get clean and sober). These people were not ready to give up their will and were in a constant state of relapse. They had several violations before they were asked to leave. Instead of getting their lives together they lash out at the one place that could have helped them and are spreading lies trying to do harm. I'm not surprised. The house was ALWAYS clean. I should know because I was one of the only people who followed the rules and kept the house clean. It is not the owners’ responsibility to hire a cleaning service like one reviewer said. It is the residents’ responsibility to get cleaning supplies (just like when you have your own apartment) and keep your living environment clean. When I had nothing left and nowhere to go Discovery House accepted me. I never felt unwelcomed or judged when I got there. They helped me get sober and find a new way of life! It is houses like Discovery House that keep guys like me off the street. They gave me an opportunity to become the person I was supposed to be... honest, accountable, reliable, and filled with humility and gratitude. Discovery House sets the bar for comfort and cleanliness. I learned to not only take care of myself but help others throughout this life long process! They have helped hundreds of people just like me. Thank you Discovery House for believing in me when nobody else did!

The pros and cons are same for every sober living environment, so let that be known. This is my personal experience and non-bias review as I no longer reside at Discovery House. Before I even came to Discovery House I was told about their reputation. Clean, Strict and their willingness to help (if you want it). This reputation was upheld the entire time I was there. I stayed at their recovery house for 8 months. Very clean and in order houses. The houses provided me with what I needed in early recovery. I've met life long friends. The house rules shaped me back into the person I once was; a functioning human being. I would recommend to anyone in need of help.
